Pelletizing

The simplest way of shaping and cooling is strand pelletizing. After the extrusion process, the discharged hot strands are cooled by means of water or air. Common facilities work with compressed air cooling, whereas for specific applications water cooling is applied as well.

The corresponding water cooling bath has a specific design in order to meet the pharmaceutical requirements. The cold strands are fed into the pelletizer and cut into cylindrical pellets. The pellets can be used for further processing into capsules or in injection molding.
